Ref. 842109 · Calibre Universal Geneve 42The linen-finish silver dial on this one has faint spotting near the edges, and I like that it hasn't been redialed or refinished to hide it. What I'm looking at is a clean, faceted set of baton hands and applied stick indices, unfussy and correctly proportioned for a dress watch of this size. The steel case has kept its lines well, with a lightly domed crystal showing only fine surface scratches consistent with handling rather than heavy wear, and the caseback retains its full engraved wave pattern with the Universal Geneve shield still sharp. Flip it over and the manual-wind Caliber 42 is unmolested, cleanly finished, and ticking along, with a legible serial present on the case. I'd put this on someone who wants a slim, modestly sized 1970s dress piece to wear under a cuff, not a showpiece for a cabinet. It suits daily use more than display.
