Calibre Doxa 1147What pulls my eye on this one is the dial's uneven tone: warmed to soft ivory in the centre, paler at the edges, with the gilt hands and dagger markers still holding good colour against it. I count the applied numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9 and the pointed indices between them, catching light differently by angle, typical of a dial that has aged rather than been repainted. The steel case is unpolished, its lug edges softened and the bezel carrying a few fine marks consistent with genuine wear. Doxa's Calatrava-style dress case suits this kind of aging well, and inside sits the manual-wind cal. 1147, keeping things slim on the wrist. The caseback carries a legible serial and the maker's marks, plain and unrestored. I'd point this one toward a buyer who wants a 1950s dress watch to wear as found, not one after a crisp, untouched dial.
