Junghans Automatic Date Three-hand, 1970s
The red and black split-baton markers on this dial are what stopped me flipping past it in a box of gold-cased automatics. I count the same red-black pairing at every hour except twelve, set against a gold sunburst dial that's kept its warmth without any obvious refinishing. The Junghans star sits above the automatic signature, dagger hands and a date window at three showing some frame wear typical of these cases. Gold-tone plating has thinned at the lug edges and case sides, brassing through in patches, with small dings consistent with genuine use rather than storage. Turning it over, the stainless steel back is clean and the case screws are intact; a serial is legible but I'm not printing it here. I've fitted a red NATO for these photos, but the watch itself is the draw: a chunky 1970s three-hand automatic for someone who wants colour on the dial, not just the strap.
