Calibre Junghans J 82Turning this one over is where my eye goes first: the caseback has worn back to base metal in a wide ring, the gold plating rubbed thin over the decades before it reached me. I find the dial has fared better — a warm silvered surface with gold arrow markers, applied Arabic numerals at 12, 2, 4, 8 and 10, and a small sunken seconds dial at six that has picked up a faint brown-grey cast with age. The gold dauphine hands still catch light cleanly, and the cushion case keeps crisp lug lines despite the plating thinning at the edges and on the crown. Open the back and the J82 manual movement sits fully exposed, gilt bridges and jewels legible, along with a serial I won't quote here. I'd suggest this one to someone who wants to see the mechanics as much as the dial.
