Longines Calatrava Dress Watch, 1950s
Ref. 9999 11 · Calibre Longines 30LWhat draws me into this dial is the mottled grey finish across the whole surface, more pronounced toward the edges, with the gilt applied indices and dauphine hands still throwing a sharp gold against it. The subsidiary seconds sits low, and I like that the Longines winged emblem above it is crisp rather than worn away. Turn it over and the case has that faceted, stepped profile Longines used on these Calatrava-style dress models, with the Longines wings stamped into the caseback and steel that reads unpolished under raking light, edges still defined rather than softened. Flip the movement into view and the 30L calibre is clean, gold-toned wheels and a visible serial on the bridge, seventeen jewels doing quiet work behind a manual wind. This one suits somebody who wants a 1950s dress watch to actually wear rather than shelve, and who won't mind that the dial shows its age plainly rather than being dressed up for the photograph.
Privatverkauf. Everything described above — case, dial, hands, lume, rate and service history — is agreed condition for this watch and I stand behind all of it. Beyond that, the watch is sold excluding liability for material defects, as is normal between private individuals for a vintage mechanical object of this age. That exclusion does not cover anything I have misdescribed or failed to disclose, and never covers injury or intent.
Fourteen days to return it for any reason — my own promise, not a statutory withdrawal right. Terms · How I describe condition
