Piaget 9P1 Dress Watch, 1970s
Calibre Piaget 9P1I have this one out of its case, dial and movement separated, and that is really the only way to see what a 9P1 is made of. The dial is a warm, brushed gold with applied baton indices and a single Roman II at the top, the gold hands slim and unfussy against it; there's some visible toning at the edges and a small mark near the crown, consistent with age rather than mishandling. Flip it over and the finishing is where I'd point a buyer's attention first: sunburst mainplate, blued screws, a jeweled train laid out with real care, the caliber and jewel count engraved plainly across the bridge. This is a manual-wind three-hander from the 1970s, small and thin by design, built for someone who wants the movement itself to be the reason for owning the watch rather than the case size or dial colour. It suits a collector comfortable buying a dial-and-movement set and sourcing or fitting a case, not someone wanting a finished watch on the wrist tomorrow. I'd call it a project for the right person, not a compromise.
