Roamer Vanguard 303 Manual Dress Watch, 1970s
What pulls my eye on this one is the caseback: heavy brassing has broken through the plating where it meets the lugs, two clean patches of bare metal you can feel with a thumbnail. The dial has stayed cleaner by comparison, a warm gold sunburst with applied baton markers and a matching gold minute hand against a slim black seconds hand, the Roamer signature and Vanguard 303 name sitting low and unfussy. The case is gold-plated, round, plain crown, no date, the manual three-hand movement ticking behind a caseback stamped with the model name and a legible serial I won't quote. Under the loupe there's light scuffing to the crystal and marks around the case flanks consistent with wear rather than storage. I haven't had it serviced, so I can't speak to what's inside. I'd put this in front of someone who wants a 1970s manual Roamer to wear, brassing and all, not dressed up to look untouched.
